Pelican Bride Giveaway!!

I'm giving away a copy of The Pelican Bride by Beth White!  This is a well-written historical novel!  Recommended to those who enjoy books that bring history to life!

Description:
It is 1704 when Genevieve Gaillain and her sister board a French ship headed for the Louisiana colony as mail-order brides. Both have promised to marry one of the rough-and-tumble Canadian men in this New World in order to escape religious persecution in the Old World. Genevieve knows life won't be easy, but at least here she can establish a home and family without fear of beheading. But when she falls in love with Tristan Lanier, an expatriate cartographer whose courageous stand for fair treatment of native peoples has made him decidedly unpopular in the young colony, Genevieve realizes that even in this land of liberty one is not guaranteed peace. And a secret she harbors could mean the undoing of the colony itself.

About the author:
Beth White's day job is teaching music at an inner-city high school in historic Mobile, Alabama. A native Mississippian, she is a pastor's wife, mother of two, and grandmother of one--so far. Her hobbies include playing flute and pennywhistle and painting, but her real passion is writing historical romance with a Southern drawl. Her novels have won the American Christian Fiction Writers Carol Award, the RT Book Club Reviewers Choice Award, and the Inspirational Reader's Choice Award. I haven't read anything by Laura Frantz, yet. I have heard great things about her books, though. Is The Colonel's Lady a standalone?

  11. Hmmmm.... Just one.... what a problem. However, I think my favorite would have to be "The Key to Zion," of the Zion Chronicles by Brock and Bodie Thoene. It was the first Christian series I would read as a new Christian and it opened up so many new ideas for me. I got my husband to read them also and he never read for pleasure, but he does now. That was so many years ago, yet I will never forget the wonder of the story.

  12. Sounds like a great read! I have a hard time choosing just one christian historical fiction book, as I've read so many. I identify with the Irish immigrants and also with pioneer/wagon train and war stories. I have also come to need the Christian influence in a story. I have read some non-Christian books that did not have objectionable content, but without the clear Christian message they fell somewhat short. That being said, that's what makes my favorite historical novels my favorites! And I never get enough :)

    1. Hello Robin! I completely understand the problem of just choosing one! Maybe I should have asked everyone to choose a favorite from those they have most recently read. :)
I have tried to read a few Clean non-Christian books, but I also struggle with it. The books just seem so . . .hopeless. The characters may get their "happily ever after," but they have not eternal hope. It seems so sad.
Anyway, you have been entered! Thank you for coming by and leaving a comment!
Hope you have a blessed week!

I've only read one of Julie Klassen's books, though I keep meaning to pick up some more of hers. I believe the one I read was The Girl in the Gatehouse, or something like that (it's been a while).
I hope you enjoy The Pelican Bride, whenever you get to read it. :)
