Pelican Bride Giveaway!!
I'm giving away a copy of The Pelican Bride by Beth White! This is a well-written historical novel! Recommended to those who enjoy books that bring history to life!
Description:
It is 1704 when Genevieve Gaillain and her sister board a French ship headed for the Louisiana colony as mail-order brides. Both have promised to marry one of the rough-and-tumble Canadian men in this New World in order to escape religious persecution in the Old World. Genevieve knows life won't be easy, but at least here she can establish a home and family without fear of beheading. But when she falls in love with Tristan Lanier, an expatriate cartographer whose courageous stand for fair treatment of native peoples has made him decidedly unpopular in the young colony, Genevieve realizes that even in this land of liberty one is not guaranteed peace. And a secret she harbors could mean the undoing of the colony itself.
About the author:

Hi Miss C! Thanks for coming by! This is my first giveaway on my blog and I'm having a lot of fun reading the comments!
DeleteI love rereading books, too! Some of my favorites have been read at least 3 times, others as many as 5 and 6. :)

My favorite right now is "The Merchant's Daughter" by Melanie Dickerson. I absolutely LOVED that novel set in the 1300s. Also, I love your blog site title--and I have to agree about the important things in life being God, books, and chocolate. :) jennismith1983(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer! You have been entered!
DeleteI actually came up with several titles, but they were taken, so I ended up with that one. I think it rather fitting. :)
I have one of Melanie Dickerson's books waiting on my Kindle. I'll have to look into reading that one too!
Hope you have a great weekend!
My favorite historical novels have to be the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder books although I do love reading books about WWII and a lot of Amish fiction (historical or not). Thanks for the giveaway!

My favorite: Gone With a The Wind
ReplyDeleteHello Jeanette! Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteYour favorite book sounds interesting, just from the title. What is it about?
Hope you have a great week!
Jeanette, did you want to be entered? I need your email address, if you do!
DeleteThanks!
Hmmmm.... Just one.... what a problem. However, I think my favorite would have to be "The Key to Zion," of the Zion Chronicles by Brock and Bodie Thoene. It was the first Christian series I would read as a new Christian and it opened up so many new ideas for me. I got my husband to read them also and he never read for pleasure, but he does now. That was so many years ago, yet I will never forget the wonder of the story.
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle! You have been entered!
DeleteWow! That sounds like a wonderful book and series! Especially since God used it to draw you toward Him! I will definitely have to look for it.
Thanks for coming by and commenting!
Hope you have a wonderful week! :)
Sounds like a great read! I have a hard time choosing just one christian historical fiction book, as I've read so many. I identify with the Irish immigrants and also with pioneer/wagon train and war stories. I have also come to need the Christian influence in a story. I have read some non-Christian books that did not have objectionable content, but without the clear Christian message they fell somewhat short. That being said, that's what makes my favorite historical novels my favorites! And I never get enough :)

Hello Robin! I completely understand the problem of just choosing one! Maybe I should have asked everyone to choose a favorite from those they have most recently read. :)
DeleteI have tried to read a few Clean non-Christian books, but I also struggle with it. The books just seem so . . .hopeless. The characters may get their "happily ever after," but they have not eternal hope. It seems so sad.
Anyway, you have been entered! Thank you for coming by and leaving a comment!
Hope you have a blessed week!
One of my favorites is The Apothecary's Daughter by Julie Klassen because of the interesting apothecary info! Thank you for this opportunity! This book in on my TBR list! My email is katie07edgar(at(gmail(dot)com Katie Edgar
ReplyDeleteHello Katie! Thank you for taking the time to come by and leave a comment!
DeleteI've only read one of Julie Klassen's books, though I keep meaning to pick up some more of hers. I believe the one I read was The Girl in the Gatehouse, or something like that (it's been a while).
I hope you enjoy The Pelican Bride, whenever you get to read it. :)
Hope you have a great week!
Hard to say...Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly series has remained at the top of my list since I first read them over 20 years ago. But...I also love the historicals by Stephanie Grace Whitson, Kim Vogel Sawyer, Karen Witemeyer...and I could go on!!! ;-)
